Nine years ago when I was 70yo I allowed my homeless 45yo son live with me. I lived on S.S. & a small pension in a one bedroom, one bath apt. Because it was very stressful for me, I’s retired psych RN I knew I had to do something for muself!!! I remembered my dream of being able to watercolor paint which is very difficult I had a little artistic ability. I got books from the library, studied online videos, & experimented… I had some of the paints, brushes, paper so there I was diving into an entirely new thing to learn… but to create also which I was finally able to do with some lovely paintings with family & friends! All said I was talented but I knew my generosity gave me something new & beautiful that I will always have, it made my living very worthwhile when I was also helping my son…. One of my best decisions!

In my neighborhood, there was a box called the purple box. We put food in there so that way the landlords could give the food to poor people. This is a great example!
