This is so poignant as a parent. When in the "20" stage with one of our children, which can be tough for parents to have them be so independent of you, and naturally preferring their friends' company. This was my soon-to-be ex-wife’s and my favorite song. After 9 years of marriage and three little ones we are now getting divorced. It seems fitting that this song made a transition into one that now explains how I feel for my childen. We are at the tail end of it all and are sharing custody of the children so that they will have a healthier chance at life with both parents who love and want the best for them. Co-parenting isn't always the easiest thing in the world but with a lot of understanding from each other, and a whole lotta love for the children involved anything is possible.
