My dad is nothing short of a hero. He's just recently retired from a job he's loved all his life. Due to injuries in his neck and shoulder, he had to retire early. As a police officer for 25 years, my dad has seen a lot of things. A lot of things that people shouldn't have to see within a lifetime, let alone 25 years of it.
He has always managed to be there for my mom and me. He has always managed to do the right things in life. I don't know exactly of what my dad has seen in all his years of work, but I do know he's saved and rescued thousands of people. He helped in the waters when the TWA flight crashed. He would have gone to NYC to help with 9/11 if he could have. My dad has been loyal to his job and to his family his entire life. I feel that he deserves to know that my mother and me love him very much and are so proud of him. My parents put me through college because they care about my education. My dad cares more about my mom and me than himself. The word hero doesn't come with any name, it has to be earned. If anyone in my life, it is my dad who has certainly earned that title. If only more people could know it.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
