Every month on the second Monday of the month, my uncle's VFW post goes to the local VA hospital to help run bingo for the veterans. I got into going at 15, and have gone every month I could since. Even days when my uncle doesn't go, and have become known amongst the veterans by name.
It is also here where I spend much of my days off, listening to the stories and just being there for them, and thus far I have saved 4 from suicide and helped one come to terms with the death of his life long love.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
