When I found out my parents were splitting up five years ago, reality sunk in for me. After listening to them screaming at one another in the middle of the night, I felt that I had lost my innocent perception of the world. I felt that I would never get back my imaginative, child-like disposition. After being bullied at school, I had lost my self-confidence. I would never get back my love for myself. I was feeling low, like I had lost everything important to me. I could no longer confide in my friends, family, or even myself. Then one day, I looked up and saw the night sky, embellished with stars. Comfort flooded into me. I knew that, though many things had come and gone in my life, the sky was always there with me.
Whenever you're in a position in which you have lost something that will never come back, whether it be a person, thing or idea, look up. Embrace the sky, for it is something that can never be taken away from you.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
