It took just a year of dating to know my Julie was the woman I wanted to spend the rest of eternity with. It being our one-year anniversary, I felt the time was right to pop the question. As she and I fell in love through our involvement in a church play, I sought yet another stage on which to seal the deal.
Julie is a veterinary technician and a huge animal-lover, so I felt the "Animal Actors" show at Universal Studios Hollywood was perfect. After getting a hold of a couple friendly trainers and staff, things were all set.
Julie was brought on-stage after being "randomly" (wink, wink) selected as an audience volunteer. A dog brought out my Universal Studios annual pass, which gave me an excuse to jump on stage to retrieve it. After giving me the microphone, I recited the following poem.
Of all creatures land, air, and sea
I'm so grateful you've chosen me
I want you mine for all time and eternity
My sweet Julie, will you marry me?
The audience immediately erupted into "aaws" and applause as I took a knee and opened the ring box I pulled from my pocket. Overwhelmed, with tears in her eyes, Julie managed to squeak out a "yes" as she shook her head.
It's a wonderful and exciting thing to be so completely in love, and to start a family of your own. While I hope to be successful in my career and other worthy endeavors, I anticipate my greatest success in life to be that of husband and father.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
