A soldier walks down the steps from the front entrance of a huge military transport. At the bottom of the steps are journalists and reporters with flashing cameras and microphones. "Your son nominated you and you won the contest. You are officially America's hero." "If I am a hero, it is only because I stand in proxy for millions of American men and women who have served in the uniform of their country, among whom there are countless genuine heroes. For me, if I am a hero to my son, what else matters? It can't get any better than that."
A small boy breaks from his mother's grasp, ducks under the restraining tape and rushes full speed across the tarmac to wrap his arms around the legs of this father. The soldier picks up his son, and there are tears in his eyes.
