My story is about my best friend, Charlotte. The reason I am writing a story about her is because she never thinks of herself, only of others. Her goal in life is to give to others and not take for herself. I have never seen her think of herself first.
Her husband has MS, and is a paraplegic. He can lock his legs to help her transfer him from the wheelchair to other places, but she must do the other part, herself. She selflessly gives to him, asking nothing in return. She gives of herself and never asks anything in return.
Not only does she take care of her husband, she has an adopted son that she adopted from her ex-husband's sister, who had a drug problem and could not take care of him. The mother's drug habit caused the son to suffer from many personality and brain issues. She deals so wonderfully with his autism, medication needs, and mental health needs and care. Again, never thinking of herself, only of her wonderful, precious, 24 year old son!
She also befriends her neighbors who need her, is aware of all, or most of, their needs, and sees to it that these are taken care of. Not only does she do thing for her husband and son, but for any neighbor who needs a helping hand in any way. If they need a trip to the grocery store, pharmacy, laundry mat, or any other such place, she sees to it that they are taken. If they need someone to listen, she lends her ear and knows the perfect thing to say. Again, never thinking of herself, only her husband, her son, and her neighbors.
She also takes care of me, her best friend. I have many health problems and my husband works approximately an hour away. If I need a helping hand because I am sick or have fainted, she comes immediately. If I need lift to the hospital, she is there. No matter what my need, she it there for me. She listens, she cares, she understands, and is the best friend in the world. Again, she thinks of her husband, her son, her neighbors, and ME, and never thinks of herself.
God created a wonderful, caring person when he created Charlotte. The things I have told you about today are not even a start to all the things she actually does. There is no way that I could possibly tell you all the things she actually does, but these things are ones that can list in a hurry. She is the most caring, wonderful, friend and person ever! If anyone deserves to be rewarded for being the kind of person others admire, it would be her. She would win, hands down!
