Rescue in the Pacific

On another lazy Humboldt afternoon, thanks was given for the rescue of a young woman from the extremely dangerous and cold waters of the Pacific Ocean in Shelter Cove, Ca. The brave Volunteer Shelter Cove Fire/Rescue Department saved a young woman from a near fatal hypothermia drowning off of remote Northern California's rugged coast.

The volunteers are extremely courageous and heroic in their acts which put themselves into such dangerous conditions for the benefit of total strangers. The young woman was in the frigid waters for almost 45 minutes and should have not survived, however, the quick thinking and well trained prepared team was able to pull her from the water and bring her core temperature up to sustainability all prior to intervention from the US Coast Guard. It is because of the training of these local departments in emergency situations as well as the bravery of people who saw the emergency and chose to act immediately to report it, and the local communities who continue to find funding for Shelter Cove's Volunteer Fire/Rescue Department to exist that one less family had to suffer for Thanksgiving this year. Thank you to the Shelter Cove, CA community for choosing the right thing to do and being courageous enough to act in the most extreme of conditions!
