So, do you want to hear about one tough cookie? Her name is Sylvia, and we are close friends. Despite the age difference (she is about 70 and I am 12) we are two friends that will not ever be broken up. That's why I was so scared when she got cancer.
Sylvia underwent 1 1/2 years of chemo that made her deathly thin and extremely sick. Even though she must not have been feeling great, I can't remember a time when there wasn't a smile broadly stretching from ear to ear on her face. She always had something nice to say and open arms. At times, she thought more about others than she did herself.
She is my rock, my life, my soul, my mentor, and my angel. She is a great gift that was sent down to me. I am so thankful for her.
I encourage you to stay loose, learn to watch snails, plant impossibly gardens'make friends with freedom and uncertainty, look forward to dreams.
We should all live like Sylvia...love like you'll never love again, live like you'll never live again, smile like it's the funniest thing is the world.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
