A few years ago, I was the single mom of two kids, aged 12 and 14. Times, as always for us, were very hard. I spent 85% of my pay for rent. I went to the corner store about 9pm with a friend, and saw a man sitting against a wall, not unusual in our area, but this man had both hands covered to the wrists in bandages. He ended up telling me he was a glass worker with no workers comp or medical, had an accident with plate glass, had been dropped off here from the county hospital, and had a friend coming. We gave him our love and prayers and went home.
At 11pm, we happened to drive by and saw him again. His friend never showed. I had recently had a tax return, so I went home and got money, and gave him 100 dollars and told him to get a taxi and a place to stay. I have not seen him since; I am broke now, 6 years later, but I do not regret giving. The feeling that I could effect change in someone's life was worth it. I give unconditionally, and I wish others could do so. Putting conditions on giving is ego, not caring. Let your ego go, there are billions of people, just help when you can!

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
