My hero is my mom. After she was diagnosed with CLL (chronic lymphocytic leukemia) 13 years ago, she retired from her career as social worker and began making quilts for a boys' home. She'd find out each boy's favorite colors, sports team, hobbies and incorporate these themes in their quilts. She also makes doll quilts for children who live in Haiti. She shares her love for quilting in our community in many ways. She helped start a quilting bee and teaches the history of quilts at local schools. She has recently started a sewing project for an organization called "daysforgirls.org". My mom truly shares her abundant love through her sewing....one stitch at a time.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
