Unconditional Love.
Is is these two simple but far reaching words that sum up Kaye Martell and her service to others, our neighbors, and our community.
For over fifteen years, she has led a group of human and canine volunteers through hospitals, children's clinics, schools, nursing homes, and hospices.
This follows witnessing the significant impact her dog made on her husband as he battled a terminal illness and later died. In pain herself, she was overwhelmed with love for the very dog that carried her husband through the most difficult days of his life. In awe & inspired she was committed to providing that unconditional love for others who were to walk in her shoes.
Today she has helped approximately 80 volunteers test and register their dogs as therapy dogs and become professional handlers & Pet Therapy teams.They make visits to patients in need daily and most recently even on Christmas Day. Volunteers spent the holiday morning greeting children at the local hospital there to visit their Moms or Dads who could not be home with their families at such a special time of year. Every month she and her volunteer group faithfully average over 30 plus visits to hospitals, cancer centers,schools, hospices, and more!
Pet Therapy reaches deeply our Providence Care hospice patients, We have seen people come alive with laughter, love, and joy simply at the sight of the dogs and their human volunteers. There is solace, comfort, and a happiness that no words could explain. Our Providence Care Hospice Pet Therapy volunteers have comforted equally our patient's loved ones & family members who are touched deeply at seeing their loved one happy again.
No greater experience, that to be loved unconditionally by Kaye and her team of canine and human volunteers.
