Teen sisters, Julia and Emma Mogus, founded an organizaiton called, Books With No Bounds in 2011 after learning Aboriginal children living in remote communities in Canada, grow up barely owning a single book their whole lives. First Nations children and teens living on reserves are underfunded in their education and have access to good books. To date, Julia and Emma Mogus have sent over 33,000 books to the most remote communities in Ontario and Manitoba and as far away as Ghana and Uganda, Africa. The sisters have flown books in small planes planes to 49 communities in the Nishnawbe Aski Nation, located in northern Ontario(communities only accessible by plane) and are currently working on building libraries in the communities (most of which do not have public libraries) In May of 2013, Julia and Emma took 4 planes and 10 hours to visit one of the communities to meet the children who have asked them to come and visit and to thank them for the books they have sent. During their visit the sisters presented the school, which consisted of 5 portables stuck together, a brand new ipad and a huge suitcase of fresh fruit (these communities rarely see fresh fruit and only have 1 general store with overprices food and rarely any fresh fruit) Since the sisters began, Julia and Emma have received hundreds and hundreds of letters from the children, teachers, Chiefs and families... all thanking them for the books and asking if they can send more. The girls have spent over 2000 hours each, after school and on the weekends, sorting, recording and packing the books for underpriveldge children. They receive littel funding and work from their basement to avoide any storage/ rental fees.
They call themselves, Teens on a Mission, to improve literacy (First Nation children are generally 4-5 years behind Provincial standards) and provide good books to kids in need.
Thank you for considering these inspiring girls!

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
