Tauna S

Tauna is one of the best people I may ever know; intelligence, kindness, acceptance, empathy, self-respect, values and tranquility all combine into her wonderful personality. She is only an 11th grader, yet her intellect and general compassion suggest more experience in life than many adults I know. Any stress that she may harbor during the busy days at school never disturbs her content demeanor, which is impressive considering the rigorous advanced schedule she assumes. I am often impressed by her continually kind and accepting nature, and she always tries to lighten someone else's day, even if it is through no more than a sincere smile. She has a steadfast adherence to her beliefs and values due to her unwavering self-respect and dignity, and this acts as a strong motivation for me to stand up for what I believe in. My respect for her grows everyday because of the positive balance with which she lives her life. Tauna is my role-model because she never fails to amaze me with pure virtue; her blend of kindness, intelligence, tolerance, and respect always prove to be an ideal worth striving for.

Hey I'm very proud of you! I had to do a research paper on values and your story inspired me! This is what I wrote: Determination is having hope, not giving up, and most of all, believing in yourself! Patience is the word for determination, because anything is possible. But anyway, I just want to say that I'm very proud of you! I wish you the best!

My sister had gotten pregnant at the age of 14 having her baby at 15. Due to this, she dropped out of high school, never went to college or anything. Where she is today, and where YOU are today are completely different lifestyles. This story made me realize that anything is possible. I am really proud of you, although I don't know you.

Alphaeus from Nigeria JULY 23, 2008
You have the courage facing the truth that man is not just an arrangement of dust and ashes but harder still than stuff called will. Go on the world is waiting for you.

Miguel M. from Arizona, U.S.A. MAY 14, 2008
My mom had me when she was 17, because of me she had to drop out of college. I feel so terrible about and I remember it everyday. Your mother was a strong person to go through such a trying time with her head held high.

My mom had me at 16. She ended up dropping out of school because she needed to take care of me. I'ts not an easy way to go. Now I'm 32 and a school teacher with a Masters Degree myself. Tough going all along the way but determination and will power can see you through.

Inspiring story!!! It takes a million tons of courage to stand alone and confront life squarely. You really touch everyone with the same situation, and you give a lot of hope to them to stand firm and face the challenge!

My daughter was 4 months pregnant when she graduated. My daughter has blessed me from the moment she was born and now she is going to bless me with a grandchild. I am sorry your parents missed out on the honor and privilege to support you. You have shown great courage and integrity to succeed on your own. Your daughter is very lucky to have such a strong mom!

That is so awesome! I too was in the same shoes. I had my son @ 17 graduated high school and went onto college & got my AA degree with no welfare just lots of hard work. I wanted to teach him that no matter what age I was, I too can be a great mother and beat all obstacles that came across us. It's not easy but its' not impossible! Continue on the same path and success will be just around the corner for you!

J. Kandala from Kuwait MAY 26, 2007

Salazar from San Jose, California MAY 22, 2007
I don't know you, but it takes alot of determination to get this far in life. There will be struggles, you stay strong, and when in doubt think of your child. My daughter is in the same boat but doing well.

chris b from florida MAY 7, 2007
I was much in the same shoes. I had my son on my own and raised him by myself, put myself through college, no welfare or help, just worked all the time. My son is now 27 and loves and respects me very much. It was worth it. Keep your head high and aim for the stars. Your daugther will be your driving force as my son was for me. Good luck!

Samuel H from Kenya MAY 6, 2007

We are the captain of the ship of our destiny. We can always come back on course if we so desire. Others' opinion may never matter as much as what we think of ourselves. You can make it if you think you can.
