As with most kids, my hero was and is my dad. He is a
Depression Era kid who grew up as the second to youngest in a family of 7 children. My dad is a rock solid individual in his dealings with others. He not only "Talks the talk", he "Walks the walk". His word is his honor. If he says it, he does it. My dad has given countless hours as a volunteer, mentor and life coach to others throughout the years. I have been the recipient of that help many times, not just because I am his son, but because he saw a need and saw that he could help. His relationship with my mom is that of selflessness and honor. He is extremely patient with her in spite of her very difficult personality. He is a true friend to many. As an employee of a very large corporation in a blue color job, he cultivated relationships with literally thousands of people within the company. Whenever I am with him in the marketplace wherever that may be, he has someone come up to him that he knows or knows him. My own 3 boys think I am ok as a hero, but they each hold Grandpa as the best.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
