Janina was born premature weighing in at one pound three ounces (1 lb. 3 oz) and 24 weeks into term. She survived through 6 months of challenges that surprised nurses and doctors who took care of her. Today, at the age of 30, she has grown into a beautiful, petite, adult who gives of herself through the ability of reading Braille. Janina volunteers at nearby schools in her community of Las Vegas, Nevada making a difference in the lives of young students. She reads books from her own library at home which her Mom has helped her accumulate over the years from the National Braille Press in MA. She gives children an opportunity to ask questions relating to her own disability and living skills as well as parts of the stories they most enjoyed. Reading in Braille to young students has encouraged them to learn the importance of reading and their own awareness of the world around them. Janina's continued efforts to give of herself to the community has touched hearts and minds of young and old alike. It's not how much we do that matters but how well.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
