Davida didn't have many positive examples in her life as a child. Like so many urban children, Davida fell victim to growing up in a family where drugs and addictions were promoted more than attending school. After 14 different arrests for drug related crimes, Davida M decided her children and grand children deserved a chance at living outside of our nation's jails and prisons. Now, sober for more than two years, Davida M is leading the charge to empower incarcerated women. She travels from Compton, California to Wasatch County Utah where she volunteers her time with incarcerated women, teaching them the tools she has used to strengthen her new life and the emerging success of three sons and four grandchildren. In the face of temptation on an hourly basis, Davida M remains stalwart in her mission to free incarcerated mothers and return them ~ sober ~ to live with their children. Davida volunteers full time to empower the 2.3 million incarcerated men, women and children with tools for positive decision making.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
