My hero is my mother. After she and my father gave birth to their second son, they decided to become foster parents because they wanted more children but knew there were already too many children in the world without families. For over 40 years, they have cared for over 100 children! Why? She truly loved children. Without much thought of herself, she continuously gave despite the many challenges she faced. You see, 99% of those children had some type of disability. Both of my parents faced unbearable challenges over the years, including cancer, and the unbearable loss of one of their biological children. My mother has been my number 1 fan my entire life. She is enjoying retirement now with my father--hopefully getting some much deserved rest. Please remember that this situation is not typical for most families, and that God (or your higher power) does not give us more than we can handle in life. I do my best to honor Him, and my mother every day by passing on her positive strength and encouragement (that she gave me) to others. Thank you, mom.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
