A professional golfer on the PGA Tour, Brian Davis, called a penalty on himself, thereby losing the Verizon Heritage tournament in a playoff. The official did not notice that Brian's club hit a loose reed, which is an infraction that penalizes the golfer two strokes. Brian Davis thought he noticed, in the corner of his eye, something flying up as he swung his golf club. He called the official over who had to review the shot on television in slow motion in order to see it. His club in fact did inadvertently move a planted weed when he swung so he was penalized and thereby lost the tournament. The winner earned an award of
$1,026,000 million while Brian Davis earned $615,000 for second place. In the name of honesty, Brian Davis forfeited over half a million dollars. In return, he has earned my (and many others') distinction of hero. I would love to see his face on one of the Foundation for a Better Life's billboards. He deserves that and much more.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
