Lapinni Akinyemi began his Social Work and Community Development initiative at the age of 16 in 1990 working with prison inmates. Ten years later this passion led him to start Family Alive Network, a non-profit organization with the aim of raising young people to be global leaders and social entrepreneurs. He operated for 8 years without funding, but secured his first grant in 2008. Akinyemi is a passionate youth activist and a prolific youth speaker.
He founded FAN with his own money in his spare time. Despite lucrative offers as an architect,now Akinyemi dedicates all his time to FAN.

His mission is to create long-lasting change by incubating Nigeria's next generation of social entrepreneurs. To scale up his impacts, Akinyemi recently founded World Changers’ League,a social entrepreneurship group for young people with heart for change and development at all Nigerian higher institution campuses. The goal is to deepen young people’s knowledge and strengthen their participation in wealth creation, good governance and community development initiatives.

Akinyemi has led young people to initiate hundreds of community projects to create awareness and demand for HCT services, to encourage the community to know their HIV status, de-worm school age children, barb them, and provide shoes and clothing for them. Once, in his 2nd Chance project, Akinyemi started a prison school and paid fines for about 8 inmates to be released. A passionate caregiver to hundreds of orphans and vulnerable children in Nigeria.
This impact is indeed numerous and yet still counting. I consider him a pathfinder, incredible change maker and an enviable role model.
